Clear aligner orthodontics in Dorridge

Invisalign provider in Dorridge

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign straightens teeth through a sequence of individually made clear aligners. Each one introduces a small, planned adjustment, gradually moving your teeth towards the positions mapped out by your dentist.

The aligners are removable and contain no fixed brackets or wires. This allows you to take them out for meals, brushing and flossing while keeping them discreetly in place throughout most of the day.

Our Dorridge clinic provides Invisalign for a variety of alignment concerns, including crooked or crowded teeth, spacing and certain bite problems. Before recommending treatment, we will examine your teeth and gums to determine whether clear aligners are the right option for you.

Invisalign clear aligners can:

  • Straighten teeth without fixed metal brackets
  • Remain subtle when worn over the teeth
  • Be removed for eating and cleaning
  • Follow a treatment plan created specifically for your smile

Dental Monitoring with Gursh

Dr Gursh Bajwa demonstrates how Dental Monitoring supports Invisalign care by allowing progress to be reviewed remotely between practice visits.

Benefits of Invisalign

  • Nearly invisible: The transparent aligners are designed to sit closely against the teeth, making treatment less noticeable in everyday situations.
  • Removable when needed: Aligners can be taken out for food, drinks, dental cleaning and selected activities before being placed back over the teeth.
  • Smooth and comfortable: With no metal brackets or exposed wires, the aligners have a smooth surface and are shaped around your mouth.
  • Personalised treatment: Your aligners are made using digital records of your teeth rather than a standard, one size fits all appliance.
  • Planned progression: Each aligner has a specific role in moving your teeth, providing a structured route from your current smile towards the intended result.

How Does Invisalign Work?

First, we assess your teeth, gums and bite to establish what needs to be corrected. Digital scans are used to record the position of your teeth and prepare a detailed treatment plan.

A sequence of aligners is then manufactured from this plan. Each set differs slightly from the previous one, applying gentle pressure to the teeth that need to move. You will change to a new set according to the schedule provided by your dentist. For further information, please refer to our blog post on how Invisalign works.

For Invisalign to work effectively, the aligners generally need to be worn for 20–22 hours each day. They should normally only be removed for:

  • Eating
  • Drinking anything other than water
  • Brushing
  • Flossing

It is important to follow your recommended wear schedule. Leaving the aligners out regularly or for long periods may slow progress and extend the overall treatment time.

Can teenagers and adults have Invisalign?

Both adults and teenagers may be able to straighten their teeth with Invisalign. Its discreet appearance can suit adults who want treatment to remain subtle at work or during social occasions. Teenagers may appreciate being able to remove their aligners for meals, sport and important events.

However, Invisalign requires commitment. The aligners must be worn consistently and looked after properly, so suitability depends on more than age alone.

During your consultation at our Dorridge clinic, we will consider the alignment of your teeth, your bite and the complexity of the changes required. We can then explain whether Invisalign is appropriate and what you will need to do to keep treatment progressing.

Invisalign After Care

Retainers are essential after your final aligner because teeth can gradually move back towards their previous positions. Depending on your needs, we may recommend fixed or removable retainers, with removable versions usually worn overnight.

Where appropriate, whitening or minor recontouring can further refine your finished smile. Whitening is only available to clinically suitable patients aged 18 or over.

How long does Invisalign take?

Treatment time varies according to the position of your teeth, the number of movements required and how consistently you wear the aligners. Many courses involve around 18–36 aligners and take approximately 9–18 months, although your treatment may be shorter or longer.

You will attend progress reviews during treatment so we can check the fit of your aligners and confirm that your teeth are moving as planned. You will also receive the next aligners in your prescribed sequence.
